Installing new asphalt is a major investment in your home or business. Choosing the wrong contractor can be a costly mistake. Below is a list of questions that should be asked of any contractor you are considering to hire to work at your home or place of business.

  1. Are you registered/Licenced with the states of New York & Connecticut | YES
  2. Do you have a permanent place of business? Can we reach you during regular business hours | YES
  3. Do you have Liability Insurance? Can I see proof of coverage? | YES
  4. Is your Liability Insurance industry specific? Some contractors will carry inexpensive gardening liability insurance. Yes they have insurance but it will not cover paving or construction related occurrences. | YES
  5. How much Liability Insurance do you carry? | $2 Million
  6. Do you have Workers Compensation Insurance? Can I see proof of coverage? | YES
  7. Do you have an A rating on Angie’s List? | YES
  8. How many years have you been in business? | 20+ Years
  9. Do your workers receive ongoing technical training? | YES
  10. Do you have references? Will you provide a list? | YES
  11. Will you show up with left over blacktop from down the street? | NO
  12. Where possible, what pitch will you create to insure proper water runoff? | ¼/foot
  13. Will you use a 3 ton or greater vibratory roller to compact the asphalt? | YES
  14. Can you install a proper drainage system if required? | YES
  15. Do you install Belgian block curbing, aprons, stone retaining walls and walkways with your own crew? | YES
  16. Do you offer repair and maintenance services? | YES
